Dear Midwife,
My wife is 23 weeks pregnant and she has been having a mucus discharge that is thick and brownish pink color. The doctor do not know what it is or what is causing it.
My wife is concerned that it's her mucus plug and that she may be starting the labor process. She lost her last child 7 weeks into her second pregnancy.
Dear Midwife,
I am 28 weeks and I lost my plug 4 days ago. I have been crampy, I have back pain and I have nausea real bad. I saw my DR. yesterday but he is acting so calm and like there is nothing to be concerned about. This is my 4th baby... I am so worried that I am in the early stages of labor and I want my baby to be healthy.
My Dr. did check me yesterday and he said that I did lose the plug and that I am starting to thin out but I am not dilated?? Now what??? I am so concerned; please help!
Dear Midwife,
I am in my 38th week of pregnancy and have been having contractions for about three or four weeks now. The baby has dropped into my pelvic area and the docter said that I am fully effaced and dialated to 3. But it hasn't changed over the weeks and the docter won't do anything about it, he just keeps sending me home.
I have tried walking, intercoarse, and so on and still nothing. my plug has aleready gone, but no water breaking, and the pains get so bad that I am in bed constantly.
I'm not sure of what else to do... All this work for weeks and no show!
Dear Midwife
I am 38 weeks pregnant and told at my last appointment that I was 1 cm dilated.
How early can you loose your mucus plug? I have had discharge since the beginning of my pregnancy, but I think I may have fully lost it today. At one point today, I discharged about three times the amount I typically do.
Could this be it? If so when will actual labor begins?
Dear Midwife,
I have tried to ask my doctor some questions but it always seem as if they are too busy to answer them and I was hoping you could help me.
Throughout pregnancy a mucus plug blocks the opening to the cervix to prevent bacteria from entering. Before labor, this mucus plug is expelled so that the cervix can open to allow the baby to pass through to prepare for delivery.
For the uninitiated -- and those who have not ralphed on their keyboards -- the mucus plug is a little nubbin that blocks the opening of the cervix during pregnancy. The woman expels it shortly before labor so the baby can pass through on its way out of Dodge.
More progress, ladies! I started losing my mucus plug last night! And this morning, I lost more of it along with some bloody show! I know this doesn't necessarily mean anything yet as far as labor, but I am so excited that my body's getting the show on the road!
Tim was a little disappointed that he had to go off to work this morning because he really thought the baby was going to come over the weekend! I am fairly certain he'll come before his due date, but I'm still willing to wait patiently if he needs a little bit longer.
