Dear Midwife,
Beginning of Feb I came to the end of my Microgynon 30 pill pack and the very next day I was due to start Dianette instead (i was advised to have no pill break).
Dear Midwife,
Oh, I am at 37 weeks now. I haven't gone against advice and have been on terbutaline for 10 weeks, now not taking it any longer. I have been having contractions 10-15 minutes apart for a week now and no one will do anything to help me out, so I was thinking of trying blue cohosh now that I'm at this point. Would it still be a bad idea?
Dear Lactation Consultant,
I am a mom of three with another baby on the way. I tried to breastfeed my second child but I had alot of problems. My nipples were cracked and bleeding before I even left the hospital. The nurses and consultants said that the baby was latching on correctly, and that it was because the baby had a very strong suckle. I used breast shells to ease the pain between feedings, I soaked my breasts in warm water before feedings to help with letdown, I massaged them, I tried nursing the baby in different positions -- nothing seemed to work.
PMS can have a significant impact on your mood, sense of worth, irritability, and relationships many days a month. But happily, there's a lot you can do about it!
Dear Midwife,
I have herpes and to avoid outbreaks, I take large doses of Lysine as soon as I start to feel an outbreak coming on. Also, if I feel a cold coming on, I take large doses of Echinacea to ward off the cold. Are these things safe while pregnant and how much does the dosage matter?
Dear Midwife,
I am currently pregnant with my second child and have had numerous problems with this one, including preterm labor issues around 26 weeks. I have been on terbutaline since that time, even though I don't agree with it. My baby has dropped and has been head down since that time.
Dear Lactation Consultant,
Overall the experience of breastfeeding my first child was positive but I did have some problems to start. My milk didn't come in until day 7 so I had a starving baby which was really stressful. A nurse recommended Fenugreek tablets to increase my supply which did seem to help and I also took them a couple of months down the track when I felt my supply wasn't keeping up and again they seemed to work.
