Dear Midwife,
Hi I am a mother of 2 children and I am pregnant with my 3rd child. With both my previous pregnancies I had a cesarean section and with this pregnancy I know I have to have another one.
What are the risks of this? What precautions should I take?
This baby was a surprise, I had no idea I was pregnant until I did the test to rule it out! I have no idea when my LMP was and when I found out, I thought I was maybe about 8 weeks. I went for my dating scan at what I thought was 12 weeks and they said I was 17 weeks. They gave me a due date of May 27th 2009 from the information they got during the ultrasound.
Dear Midwife,
Hi my name is Jade and I'm pregnant with my second child. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and would like to know will my body treat this labor as a first?
Dear Lactation Consultant,
Hi there. I could not find that this question has been asked so I am going to ask. With my first child I had a c-section. I tried nursing as soon as I could (which ended up being after I was in recovery for 2 hours and they had already given him a bottle). I tried to nurse him but it didn't seem like there was any milk. I tried pumping to get the milk flowing but nothing came out.
Partially under the pressure of lawsuits, the cesarean section rate increased from 5% in 1970 to 25% in 1988. Doctors are rarely sued for a poor outcome if they have performed a cesarean section but they are almost always sued when they have not. But is a repeat cesarean safest for the mother and baby? Find out.
What is a Cesarean Section? A cesarean section is the surgical delivery of the baby through an abdominal incision. Supposedly, Julius Caesar was delivered in this manner, hence the name.
Dear Midwife,
My husband and I are both 36 years old. We tried for 11½ years before getting pregnant for the first time (without any fertility treatments tried). I did develop gestational diabetes during the pregnancy. Our healthy baby boy was born via cesarean section 5 weeks ago and we have two questions.
When can we begin to try to conceive again?
How long should we try before seeking help from the OB-GYN?
We want to try again as soon as we could as we feel our age is an issue.

Since Caitlin's birth happened so fast, and so unexpectedly, there isn't really too much to tell, but I'll do my best to make it interesting. Her birth story actually began at our baby shower as I opened our last gift. I was crouched down to unwrap the present (It was one of those stroller/car seat combos -- we knew that ahead of time.
