Exercises performed on a large ball enhance core muscle activation while crunching against an exercise ball helps support your back. The result? A safer and more effective exercise session.
Pumping weights, even during pregnancy, does your body good. You'll appreciate those benefits long after your baby's moved from your womb to the outside world.

Dear Alexandra,
My name is Iris and I am from Germany so I would like to apologize for my English not being flawless. I am 31 years old. I already have a 14-month-old child and I am used to strenuous exercise.
Hi,
My name is India, and I was already overweight when I became pregnant. I weighed around 185 or so,and I'm only 5'3.
Now I'm 6 months pregnant, I weigh 195 and I would like to start loosing weight now, nothing that would harm my baby of course. I started walking on my treadmill. I wanted to try to do this twice a day, 45 minutes both times. Is this ok?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I am now 29 weeks pregnant. I just wanted to know if it is safe to use the elliptical machine without the arm handles at the gym. Before I got pregnant I would stay on it for 2 hours / 13 miles. I do at least an hour now at the low intense level.
I have asked 3 doctors at the practice during my appointments and everyone has a different answer. I don't know what I should do, and going to the gym makes me feel better and have been going everyday for 10 years. Is it safe?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I have been training for the NYC marathon and have completed two marathon's in the past 10 months. I am not a competitive runner, but enjoy marathon running and finished both marathon's in just under 5 hours. I just found out that I am pregnant and will be 6 weeks pregnant during the upcoming run. Both my primary care and OB/GYN had no objections. Both also advised that I be careful not to dehydrate.
Dear Midwife,
I would really appreciate a response, as I am worried about the following issue: I am 25 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. I was 174 pounds and 5' 7.5" tall prior to becoming pregnant. I expected to be larger than in previous pregnancies and I expected to show sooner. I wasn't prepared for what I currently face, however.
Can you exercise during pregnancy? Build muscle? Sure! Exercise will make you feel better and labor easier. So do the exercises -- (correct body dynamics below, watch your temp (in a way you never imagined), drink water and more water throughout and stop just shy of hitting the floor...
Dear Fitness Expert,
I do kickboxing and have done so off and on for approximately 9 years. I stopped during my first pregnancy which resulted in a cesarean 4 years ago.
I am now 11 weeks pregnant and continue to kickbox on a one-to-one basis at a lower intensity.
My concern is as I get into my pregnancy and continue to engage in kickboxing how it will impinge on my existing c-section scar and what precautions I would need to take?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I am planning to have my second baby. I conceived in April and had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I have passed 6 weeks from the womb wash. Is it ok to join a gym and work out for 3 times a week? I mainly concentrate on the treadmill, crosstrainer and the rowing machine.
Dear Fitness Expert,
I'm 2½ months pregnant and I do the curves exercise. I was wondering if after the baby is born if it would be better for me to try the beach body, slim in 6. Does it work better? Will I see faster results?
