No Gestational Sac at 6.5 Weeks
QUESTION
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
My wife is now just at 7.5 weeks pregnant. She had a trans vaginal ultrasound last Friday which would have been right at 6.5 weeks. We are absolutely sure that she got pregnant on Feb. 24 or 25th as I traveled a lot and we didn't see each other much other than then. I'm worried because when we went for her scan they didn't see anything at all.Two Sacs...One Baby and Heartbeat
QUESTION
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
Hi. I am 7 weeks 3 days and I had my first ultrasound last week. In the ultrasound, they saw what appeared to be two sacs. One had a visible baby with a good strong heartbeat, but one looked empty or at least we didn't see anything. The doctor came in and looked at the ultrasound and stated that it may only be one sac and there could be a thyroid pushing up in the middle of it to make it look like two.HCG Didn't Double
QUESTION
Dear Midwife,
I found out I was pregnant and my first Beta was 233. I went 2 days later for more blood work and an ultrasound since I am prone to miscarriages and on the ultrasound the tech and the doctor both thought they saw the beginning of a gestational sac. I was shocked. I have read a sac can not be viewed until levels are about 1000 and mine were below that at that time. The doctor told me my levels must have jumped to see the beginning of the sac. I had them tested again and they went up to 381 which they said was ok but not awesome.Gestational Sac but No Embryo
QUESTION
Dear Midwife,
Two years ago I had an ectopic pregnancy, then just Jan 1st I had a miscarriage (very early pregnancy) and now I have tested positive for pregnancy again.High HcG Level - No Sac
QUESTION
Dear Midwife,
I went to the er when I found out I was pregnant because I was having some cramping and didn't know that was normal. They checked my hcg levels and it was 583. that was a week and a half ago. I went to the doctor yesterday and all they could see was a SMALL sac.
The doctor led me to believe that since my hcg levels were so high and we didn't see much I was having a miscarriage.
I am scheduled to have another sono next week but he did not make it sound promising.
Any advice?

Fetal Heart Rate and Excess fluids
QUESTION
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
I have some kind of excess fluid that I'm concerned about. My doctor didn't say exactly what it might cause, they just said it will be monitored, no explanations. I think it might be extra water in the amniotic sac? Or something of that nature, I'm not sure but this is really bothering me and eating at me.My baby's heartbeat is 174 per minute (I'm ten weeks) and I would like to know if somethings wrong or it should be this rate at this time.
History of Blighted Ovum; Worried About HCG Levels
QUESTION
Dear Midwife, I need to find out what is going on with me. I have a history of a blighted ovum. I had a D&C on June 19th. I had not had a period since the surgery. I took a pregnancy test (actually 3 of them) and they were all positive. I had an ultrasound done on August 6th. The technician said that she saw a gestational sac and she also saw a yolk sac. She wasn't able to locate fetal pole. My doctor did a trace of my HCG levels after 48 hours. On August 9th I had a level of 18,600, on August 11th the level was 28,900. I got those results yesterday.

Dear Ms Ultrasound,
My husband and I are pregnant after our 2nd round of IVF. I have had two successful pregnancies on my own, but due to my husband's vasectomy, we agreed on IVF. QUESTION
Dear Ms Ultrasound,
Last week I had a D&C following a "missed miscarriage". I found out I was pregnant at 5-6 weeks, but because I had had several weeks of light bleeding and constant brownish discharge they sent me for an early ultrasound. It was dated 5+ weeks and showed 2 gestational sacs (no heartbeats) - both with good decidual reactions.3 days later I started to bleed again and another u/s showed one of the sacs collapsing, the other still had a good decidual reaction.

QUESTION
Dear Ms. Ultrasound,
Yesterday I had an ultrasound performed, and I left feeling very confused... the doctor estimated I was 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant based on my last menstrual cycle, but the ultrasound technician gave me no clue as to what the measurements were or how far along I really was. However, there were two yolk sacs on the screen! But there was only one baby visible, and the heartbeat was very very low, 65 bpm. There was only one gestational sac, as well. I have an appt. with a specialist, but I'm hoping that
