Dear Fitness Expert,
My husband and I have been trying for 1 1/2; years to conceive and are now under the care of a reproductive endocrinologist. I have been an avid runner and do some moderate weight lifting for about 6 years now. We had the Intrauterine Insemination a little over a week ago and I am dying to work out, but many people have said to just hang tight for a couple of weeks.
Is this necessary? Will running or lifting some weights have any affect on conception? Please advise...
Dear Fitness Expert,
We are planning to conceive. Please tell me if it is safe to do brisk walking? What about dance as I'm fond of dancing? Can do some exercise to keep in shape? What other things we should keep in mind so that I may conceive well in time.
Dear Fitness Expert,
I've seen many questions and answers about Kickboxing, but nothing specifically about Tai-Bo (you know, the one with Billy Blanks). I have done Tai-Bo off and on for 5 years and I'd say I'm moderately active. Would it be OK to start up my Tai-Bo program now at 4 months as long as I watch heart rate, temperature and drink plenty of water?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I am 4/5 weeks pregnant and I'm already registered for a 4 mile run this Saturday morning. I have been running the past 8 months. Wanted some advise about the run this Saturday morning and continuing running while pregnant.
I already have a beautiful 21-month-old girl and we have been trying for our second baby. So far nothing has happened. Could my exercise regime be the cause? To shed baby weight after the last pregnancy I took up exercise. I use the treadmill and weight train more or less 5 times a week and love it as I feel really fit and healthy. Do I have to give up training to conceive?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I'm 6 weeks pregnant. I have been doing power yoga for the last 8 or 9 months. I know there is a question about it, but it talks about heated rooms, which is not my case. Can I go on with my power yoga lessons?
Also I was just about to start a scuba diving course when I found out I was pregnant, can I do it?Thank you, I will really appreciate your answer for I'm living in a very small island in the Pacific, and I don't have any expert at all to whom I can ask!
Dear Fitness Expert,
I do kickboxing and have done so off and on for approximately 9 years. I stopped during my first pregnancy which resulted in a cesarean 4 years ago.
I am now 11 weeks pregnant and continue to kickbox on a one-to-one basis at a lower intensity.
My concern is as I get into my pregnancy and continue to engage in kickboxing how it will impinge on my existing c-section scar and what precautions I would need to take?
Dear Fitness Expert,
I am a dancer (ballet and modern dance) and dance teacher. I am supposed to be performing when I will be about 10 weeks pregnant. I have taken the last few weeks off and am getting ready to start working out again.
Dear Fitness Expert,
I am a competitive cyclist. Would it be harmful to carry on training during pregnancy with the intention of racing soon after (and perhaps before) giving birth?
I have been training regularly for 3 years now and before that I used to run long distance so my body is well used to hard sessions.

Dear Fitness Expert,
I am about 4 weeks pregnant and am a Polynesian dancer. I have danced for about 3 years now and we practice or perform at least 1 week, but for the past 2 weeks we have been practicing every day for an upcoming event. My group does a lot of Tahitian dancing, which involves a lot of fast hip motion. Is it still safe for me to do this, or is it too much shaking or stress on the baby? Thanks!
