Dear Nutritionist,
Hello, I am 25 weeks pregnant and have terrible headaches usually daily. I had them in my first trimester, but they have gotten much worse. Usually they are there when I wake up in the morning and last all day, but sometimes they don't start until around noon.
I have been on bed rest for the past 6 weeks and will have to be on it until the baby arrives.
I drink plenty of water 8-10 glasses a day. I have always drank a minimum of 8 glasses a day. Could I be needing more than that because I am accustomed to drinking that much?
Breastmilk is the only food your baby needs until about 6 months of age. There is no advantage to adding other sorts of foods or milks to breastmilk before about 6 months, except under unusual circumstances.
Dear Midwife,
I am now 6 weeks pregnant and I am constipated. Can I take a mild laxative, if it exists? If I can't take a laxative what should I do? This feeling is very annoying and I hope you can give me some advice. Thank you in advance for taking time out to read my email.
Dear Midwife,
I have the normal white vaginal discharge that you explain on the website. I do however also have a very similar discharge (more clear than white though) when I pass stools. Is this discharge normal or not?
Dear Midwife,I am expecting my seventh baby. My sixth was an emergency c section due to fetal distress (meconium). I want to have a VBAC. I found a midwife that is willing to help me and I asked her if I would be able to labor in the water. She said, "No. After having a C-sec, your scar could open up like a zipper when in the water so that would not be possible.
During pregnancy, the body produces approximately 50% more blood and body fluids to meet the needs of the developing baby. Swelling is a normal part of pregnancy that is caused by this additional blood and fluids.
