Concerns about my eating affecting my baby.

Recently, my daughter who is now 6 months old has been having problems with constipation. I introduced her to rice cereal a few weeks back and thought maybe that was the problem. Now with changing to barley cereal, than eliminating it all together and only giving her vegetables and fruit she continues to have this problem. I now think that it is my diet since she is nursing. I admit to not being the bet eater with also having a two year running around. Would anyone be able to direct to a book or website that can give me information on how to eat better while nursing?

I am so Excited I'm pregnant and ready for my first!!

I am so excited about having a baby. I once was pregnant before this and had a miscarriage. I was in pain and had to go through the miscarriage naturally. I got no DNC done or any thing that is a horrible thing to go through I would not wish that on my worst enemy of any sort. I feel for some reason this pregnancy will suceed. I am not having the pain like I was with the first pregnancy of any sort I do have some crampiness and some back pain but the doctor says that is normal! please to all my mothers around the glob please pray for me and wish me good luck thank you!!

Nursing Strike at 4 1/2 Months?

QUESTION

Dear Lactation Consultant,
Our 4 1/2 month-old boy, Sam, has been breastfed since he was born. My wife went back to work at 3 months and we out of necessity we started feeding him breast milk from bottles. We occasionally give him formula as well. But over the last week he has been reluctant to breastfeed and for two days has refused to breastfeed completely. He obviously likes the bottle because it is easier to draw the milk from.

QUESTION

Dear Lactation Consultant,
I have a 4 and 1/2 year old daughter and I still have the feeling of my milk dropping when I hear other babies. I still have the openings on my nipples, no milk coming out. I have not lost any of my breast size since I stopped breast feeding 4 years ago. My physician says its fine, but I thought 4 years is too long. What should I do now?

Thanks for your help.

Should I Try a Sippy Cup or Bottle?

QUESTION

Dear Lactation Consultant,
My daughter is 12 weeks old and has been exclusively breastfeeding. We tried introducing a bottle a day at 5 weeks with varied results. She took the bottle at times and flat out refused at other times. We stopped after a couple weeks because I was tired of trying to express milk and frustrated with her resistance. Now I'm trying to introduce the bottle again with even greater difficulty. Now that she is older perhaps I should try cup feeding? Would you recommend a cup that has a lid and spout or an open cup? I don't know what to do.

Did I Just Not Give It Enough Time?

QUESTION

Dear Lactation Consultant,
Hi there. I could not find that this question has been asked so I am going to ask. With my first child I had a c-section. I tried nursing as soon as I could (which ended up being after I was in recovery for 2 hours and they had already given him a bottle). I tried to nurse him but it didn't seem like there was any milk. I tried pumping to get the milk flowing but nothing came out.

He Eats More Than I Pump!

QUESTION

Dear Kathy,
My son is 4 months old. He was not taking a bottle from husband. Since he will now take one, we try to give him a bottle everyday. He will eat 7-8 oz. from the bottle. When I pump at the same time I only get 3 oz. This has been going on for at least a week. It does not seem normal! What can I do? Also I do not believe that he has gained weight for a couple of weeks.
