already underweight and losing more

So when I found out I'm pregnant I was well aware of the fact that I was already 20 pounds underweight I've been experiencing severe vomiting constantly for two weeks now and the effects are worrying both me and my husband since I've lost another ten or fifteen pounds our only option before hospitilization is nutrient shakes is this safe for my baby?

whoa!

Okay so my fiance and I have not been together for very long. We were friends for quite a while before we became a couple, and we quickly escalated to being engaged. I am very happy with my fiance, however, neither of us have previous children nor are we prepared. I am absolutely terrified! I don't know what all I need to do to optimize my baby's health in utero. If anyone has any advice or kind words to make this a little easier, it would be much appreciated. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Calories During Pregnancy

QUESTION

Dear Nutritionist,
I am 5 weeks pregnant and trying to determine a healthy diet for me and my baby. Before becoming pregnant, I was trying to lose weight and was on a 1500 calorie per day diet, losing about a pound a week. (I exercise 3-4 times per week, have a BMI of 22.5 and keep a detailed food log.)

Now that I am pregnant, I'm unsure how to adjust my diet. I no longer want to lose weight but I want to make healthy choices for both of us. I enjoy keeping a food log and like the idea of a concrete number in regards to calories to shoot for each day.

QUESTION

Dear Nutritionist,
My whole family has been telling me that during my pregnancy, I have to make sure that I drink lots of milk, to make sure I get calcium, etc. The only problem is, I'm lactose intolerant. My throat clogs up, and I have severe issues breathing, so milk itself is definitely out. So do I need it? What can I substitute if I do?
