    QUESTION

    Dear Midwife,
I am 33 weeks pregnant and have only gained about 16 pounds. I was a normal weight prior to pregnancy but on the low side (5'7" and 125 pounds). I feel I am eating correctly and am exercising 4 times per week (walking or riding a stationary bike) for about 30 minutes. Prior to pregnancy I ran 4-5 times per week. My doctor keeps saying I'm fine, but I am getting very worried about low birth weight. What do you recommend? Thanks!!

  • Healthy Weight Gain

    QUESTION

    Dear Fitness Expert,

I have been a gymnast for 10 years, and have been running a gymnastics program for the last 6 years. I just found out I am pregnant. As you can imagine, I have been used to running around and working out a lot. I am very thin, and I am a bit concerned about being able to put on weight.

Everyone tells me to eat milkshakes, fries, and all of the things that I've been trying to avoid for most of my life. Is there a healthier way to go about this? Or should I just start consuming mass quantities of fatty foods?

  • Not Everyone Loves Being Pregnant

I discovered during my pregnancies that the people I know are liars. Sure they meant well, but had I known then what I know now, I'd never have believed them in the first place. Following are the lies they told me and the truths I found. I am so glad I have my children but I'm really glad I won't have to endure the "joy" of pregnancy again.
