My husband and I have been trying to conceive for six months now. I'm a bit concerned due to many reasons, some being family history and others being of a medical nature.
Dear Midwife,
I was just wondering if you have to have a period every month to conceive and or ovulate?
I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago and so my periods are very irregular. I don't even know for sure if I am even ovulating. How can I find out if I am ovulating when I do have my period?
Dear Midwife,
My husband and I are trying to conceive for the past year. We do have a fertility appointment next month and I have started to take by basal temperature and the home ovulation kits.
Dear Midwife,
They say a cycle is 28 days. Do you calculate the first day you get your period to first day of the next month's period to get this number? If I sometimes get my period one or two days earlier, is that considered irregular? Thanks.
Dear Midwife,
I'm almost nineteen and my boyfriend and I have decided to start trying to get pregnant, but I have a few questions.
First, almost two years ago I got a pap and they said I had HPV. I got treatment for it and went back the next year and they said everything was fine. Could I still have it and if I do could HPV harm my baby when I am pregnant or giving birth?
Second, I still have my hymen, the skin that is supposed to go away when your younger. Should I get it removed before giving birth?
Dear Midwife,I am a 35-year-old white female with 3 successful pregnancies. My first was born when I was 21. They are 5-15 years old. I am now married again and my new husband has no children and wants one of his own desperately. I am healthy, but I am obese at approximately 185 pounds and 5'4". I do not have regular periods....they are from 28-40 days, so we can't tell when I ovulate. We make love almost on a daily basis.

Dear Lactation Consultant,
Hello. I have a small concern. Last week I had a longer lasting than normal period. Now this week, I still have all the physical aches and pains that go along with menstruation. I also noticed that I have a liquid that sure looks like colostrum leaking from both breasts. I weaned my son eight months ago. Do you know what could be causing this? Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
