Empowering Parents to Empower Kids!
About Author, Illustrator, and Speaker: Kas Winters, The Mother of Family Ideas and the Sneaky Mom on WordofMomRadio
A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, volunteer, and mompreneur, Kas Winters puts a lifetime of ideas collected from working with thousands of children through Scouting (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts), after-school programs, religious education programs, and other volunteer positions, into the books she writes and illustrates for families. Her goal is to help parents encourage children to see themselves as confident and capable because of what they KNOW they CAN do. Activities are all kid-tested and Winters' family approved for fun, learning and bringing families together in special ways.
As an author, illustrator and publisher, Kas, the owner of Everything Family, has published more than 100 books, including many for children and parents. Her own books include activities to build self-confidence and a sense of empowerment and capability in children. Among these are: I CAN DO THAT! with ideas to help children build confidence through experiences; How to Talk to Your Kid with conversational thoughts for parents; Great Things I'm Going to DO and Terrific Stuff I've Already Done, a book that provides hands-on confirmation of a child's achievements; Mother Lode with more than 5,000 activities for toddlers through teens; Fall Fun For Families and A Teacher's Guide to Autumn Activities which include seasonal things to do for families or for groups of children; Family Friendly Halloween Fun has more than 500 ideas for fall and Halloween good times, parties, activities, and crafts for children and families, which lack the horror aspect of the season; Nativity Activities includes a vast selection of family things to do to celebrate the Reason for the Season and develop close family relationships while making precious memories for kids. Her The Little Book of Knots, which is small enough to fit in a pocket, is for those who enjoy camping and similar kinds of fun.
In addition, she has illustrated quite a few children's stories, including: Tryin' Ryan; Silly Ol' Max, the Funny Yorkie-Poo; Cinnamon, the Seahorse; The Adventures of Five Brave Teddy Bears; Gertie's Christmas Magic; Erika's Angels: The Secret of the Locket; All Twelve of Them; and Lucy Ann Pickle. Her illustrations also appear in other books she has published, including: The Drapery Workroom, Successful Weight Loss with the Gastric Sleeve, The Quickening, and a 609 page book, Missing Genetic Pieces, which includes strategies for living with a Chromosome 22q11 deletion. Her other books include wedding planners and a book about self-publishing, Get that Book out of your Head and into Print. Kas represents more than 100 authors on her website with a selection of books for ALL family members.
Everything Family, Kas' business, offers "Resources to Help Families Thrive." These include hundreds of books as well as gift items, greeting cards and posters (made by several artists and crafters) for family members of all ages and interests. She has also developed craft and sewing patterns which are available too. Thousands of FREE family articles with great ideas are included on her Everything Family website.
Kas' Sneaky Mom Radio Show on WordofMomRadio provides monthly ideas for helping children learn and feel good about themselves. Recorded versions of shows are accessible for listening at any time at WordofMomRadio.com.
Kas Winters has also done many chats online, and has been interviewed by Voice America and Boomer and the Babe on the radio, as well as a couple of short local television appearances.
Winters' articles have appeared in family magazines for years; and she has written regular columns for Discover the Region Magazine and the West Valley Family Magazine, and her own monthly newsletters including "The Troubadour" and her new "Sneaky Mom News."
She has also provided countless programs at schools for small classes, publishing seminars where young students got to write and publish their own books, and assemblies for entire student bodies. Her favorite gatherings are what she calls, "Playshops" because they are creative and more fun than workshops! She fills tables with craft supplies and there are no directions--simply FUN! Adults and children always leave feeling creative and proud of what they made, "all by themselves!"
